Stephen Mougin, guitarist and vocalist with the Sam Bush Band, and Ned Luberecki, banjo  player with Chris Jones and the Night Drivers and other bands as well as Sirius/XM Radio Bluegrass Junction on air personality, will perform as a duo presenting a unique evening of their own compositions as well other music which together cannot easily be classified, but could be described as a fusion of bluegrass, newgrass, rockygrass, blues, folk...perhaps best called Americana music.  The program will be held on November 21st at the New England Yourth Theater, 100 Flat Street, Brattleboro, VT at 8:00 P.M.  Tickets are $15.00.  In addition, each man will present a workshop in the same location on Sunday morning at 10:00 A.M.  Luberecki will be presenting a banjo workshop while Mougin will present a workshop on singing harmony.  He has recently published two CD's on the same topic.  Tickets for the workshops cost $35.00 each.  The Stockwell Brothers, well know trio from Putney, VT will be opening for the duo on Saturday night as well as joining in on some of their pieces.  The theater can be found here:

Mougin is perhaps best known for his work playing  lead guitarist and singing vocal harmonies for the Sam Bush Band, with whom he has performed for four years.  He has also performed with Valerie Smith, Jim Lauderdale, Melonie Cannon, Audie Blaylock, and others.  He comes from nearby western Massachusetts where he taught music and directed the choir at Mahar Regional School in Orange.  He has a degree in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts.  Recently, he has recorded two CD's at his studio Dark Shadow, designed to teach harmony singing.  Featured on the CD are Russell Moore of IIIrd Tyme Out on tenor singing and Ronnie Bowman on singing baritone.  Writing about this project, Brance Gillihan of The Bluegrass Blog, said, "This is a great way to learn these parts, and I think you'll learn more than just the five songs included on the disk.  You'll learn to hear where the parts are, and should be able to take your new skills and figure out the harmony to other songs as well."  The Sunday workshop should provide very good opportunities for those wishing to learn to sing harmony vocals.  Mougin performs on Sam Bush's most recent CD "Circles Around Me," his first appearance on a Bush recording.  Sam commented how pleased he is to have Stephen on this recording and about his great contribution to the Sam Bush Band.

Ned Luberecki is perhaps best known as one of the on air radio personalities on Sirius/XM satellite radio's Bluegrass Junction.  He is host of the weekly program Derailed, which features newgrass and other progressive bluegrass music on Saturday evenings, as well as maintaining a regular three hour afternoon program of more diverse bluegrass music.  Over the past several months, Ned has also begun teaching on-air banjo lessons during his Sunday afternoon shows on Bluegrass Junction.  Luberecki can currently be heard on banjo with Chris Jones and the Night Drivers and also appeared at festivals in support of  Tony Trischka's award winning "Double Banjo Spectacular" CD. He has been a featured banjo player with Rarely Herd, The Gary Ferguson Band, Radio Flyer and others.  Ned is perhaps best known as a gifted and innovative player and teacher.  He regularly serves on the teaching staffs of Nash Camp, Smoky Mountain Banjo Academy, American Banjo Camp, and others.  He teaches private lessons at the East Nashville School of Music.  Bluegrass Unlimited magazine has said, "Ned's banjo captures that killer tone and technique banjo players die for."  As a performer and workshop facilitator, Ned is well known for his sometimes quirky sense of humor and warm manner.  Look for Ned's "Perfect Bluegrass Song" during his performance.

Saturday night's duo will be highlighted by the musical versatility of both men.  Mojo is also recognized as a fine mandolin player (he regularly appears at the Station Inn  on mandolin with a pickup band). Ned will be playing guitar and banjo and their challenge will be to create a larger sound with two instruments.  They are co-sponsored by Fishman amps and pickups. 

The Stockwell Brothers

The Stockwell Brothers will open for Mojo and Nedski, and Barry Stockwell is the promoter of this event.  Banjo player Bruce Stockwell, winner of the 2005 Merlefest banjo contest and well-known New England teacher and performer is featured along with his brothers Barry and Al playing a pleasing mix of bluegrass, newgrass and folk music.
