Ernie Evans & Don Miller Assume YeeHaw Junction Bluegrass for 2016
Ernie
Evans announced today that Evans Media Source of Jacksonville, FL and
partner Don Miller of Live Oak, FL will
continue the more than twenty year tradition of the YeeHaw Junction
Bluegrass Festival, held the third weekend in January at YeeHaw
Junction, Florida, where U.S. 441, the Florida Turnpike, and Florida
route 60 intersect about thirty miles west of Vero Beach. Evans and
his wife Debi are veteran bluegrass
promoters and performers, operating festivals at Dixieland RV Park in
Waldo, FL, Sertoma Bluegrass Festival
at the Sertoma Youth Ranch in Brooksville as well
as the Hillside Bluegrass Festival in Cochran, GA .
Evans and Miller were previously partnered promoting the Spirit
of the Suwannee Bluegrass Festival in Live Oak.
The
YeeHaw Junction festival was initially presented by Steve Dittman.
Keith & Darlene Bass began promoting it six years ago, and are
withdrawing from active bluegrass promotion for health reasons.
YeeHaw Junction is the last remaining festival in Florida presented
in an open pasture with relatively few amenities, although the Basses
have added electric hookups in recent years. Each year the event
recreates itself by changing from a pasture into an active music
community for a week of jamming, bluegrass music, socializing, and
eating in a warm and friendly musical environment.
In
recent years Evans has re-invigorated several festivals by turning
them into week-long events approximating a land based cruise
featuring a variety of activities during each day leading up to the
music aspect of the festival. Square dancing, jamming, bingo,
Face-to-facebook get togethers for Facebook friends has turned the
entire week into an adventure.
The
lineup, only partially complete at this time, will feature Doyle
Lawson & Quicksilver, IIIrd Tyme Out, Nothin' Fancy, the
Grascals, and Monroe Crossing. Make plans now to return to the new YeeHaw Junction at the
same place and time for another great season.
