Darin & Brooke Aldridge
Darin & Brooke Aldridge have released six CD's in the past few years, with their latest, Snapshots, placing several songs on the charts, including their marvelous cover of Johnny Cash's Tennessee Flattop Box. which reached number one. Billed as the Bluegrass Sweethearts, Darin & Brooke have shown vocal and instrumental dexterity and variety. Brooke's strong voice, always dead on the note, clear, and powerful, is a wonder to behold. Kentucky radio DJ Steve Martin wrote, "... effortless, dead on each note , perfect harmony ,no straining to reach any note she chooses, as loud as required by the setting, the notes are pure with no wobbling , she doesn't slide to the next note she just goes there, her breath control is a thing of beauty, she can carry any room or make you lean in closer to listen, meaning in the lyrics is never sacrificed."
Darin toured for nine years with the Country Gentlemen, and later with the Circuit Riders. He is noted for his virtuosity on both mandolin and guitar as well as his fine tenor voice. Whether recording and touring with their own band, or working closely with other artists, Darin & Brooke Aldridge bring class and first rate musicality to the mix. Unspoken Tradition
Unspoken Tradition is an emerging band that has developed and matured in Cherryville, with many of its members being former students of Darin Aldridge. We first saw them at the Bomb Shelter, a buried treasure of a jam location that's been holding bluegrass jams in Cherryville for decades. Last Fall, this band was selected as an official showcase band for the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) meetings in Raleigh. They're the sort of rising young band about whom you want to be able to say, "I saw them before anyone else had heard of them, and KNEW....."
