The Bands
Headliners for this winter's Roscoe Canady Memorial Festival will be Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, and Nothin' Fancy. The Roys return after a successful engagement here last year, and local favorite The Stephens Family will be at Waldo all weekend.
Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out
With a new Cracker Barrel CD out on the rack and Russell Moore having garnered his fifth IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year over an eighteen year period, this distinguished band has returned to its earlier heights, a feet not often accomplished. Musically and for entertainment value, they just can't be beat. Mandolinist Wayne Benson has a new mandolin project he and Alan Bibey have produced. Two great instrumental stylists together.....

Nothin' Fancy
Nothin' Fancy, always a fan favorite, continues on its merry way combining melodic highlights and plenty or rollicking humor. The band is a breath of fresh air in a genre that often takes itself too seriously. Mike Andes is releasing a new solo CD.
Chris Sexton
The Roys
The Roys have recently experienced a personnel change with the departure of Harry Clark, but they should continue to provide their increasingly entertaining and polished bluegrass sound. Their brother/sister banter never becomes rancorous as they keep on singing and growing as a group.

Ernie Evans & the Florida State Bluegrass Band
Ernie Evans
The host band for this festival, Ernie continues to offer a pleasing variety of traditional bluegrass with grassed versions of songs from other genres. A pleasant diversion for those seeking variety.

Swingin' Bridge
Jackie Hill & Blue Shades of Grass
The University of Florida Bluegrass Band, country karaoke singer Greg Bird, and others are still being added. There's also plenty of on-stage jamming.

Other Information
For more information and tickets, call (904) 886-8378. Camping is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The Dixieland RV Park in Waldo, FL has been rebuilding and upgrading for several years, and the improvements show. Remember that U.S. highway 301 running through the spine of north Florida functions as a notorious speed trap with Waldo at its center. Be careful of your speed along this piece of highway.
How to Get to Waldo
Early arrivals will be treated to a soup beans & cornbread bash with jamming afterwards on Monday, Feb. 25 and there will be a covered dish supper with meat provided on Wednesday. Come for the whole week and be prepared to have lots of fun.
This is cool!
