Fan Fest is a huge indoor bluegrass festival in which artists donate their performances to help raise funds to support the Bluegrass Foundation and IBMA in promotion of bluegrass music around the world. This year forty-nine bands appeared on the main stage alone as well as others at the Grand Master Fiddler Championship, held concurrently in the Convention Center and on the Master's Workshop Stage, where there were performances and workshops. In addition, there were celebrity jams in a lounge room in the convention center, and educational sessions continuing in the pattern of those at the business conference. There is also an exhibition hall filled with instrument, equipment, and other merchandise, and space in the hallways for artists to sell merchandise and CD's. The event has one of the most comprehensive festival programs found anywhere.
Because of the size of the event, I've only included impressions of activity in the hall and pictures of band leaders. My apologies to side-men, whose pictures I usually include. There were just too many musicians participating for us to include everyone. Both of us were busy with the our cameras throughout the weekend. Enjoy!
