MAAC 2010 - Wednesday

The New MACC Stage

The day dawned overcast with fears about possible thunderstorms in everyone's mind.  As the day progressed the weather improved...hot, muggy and no rain.  Evening saw the sky clearing and a 3/4 moon lighting the nighttime sky while everyone enjoyed the evening in t-shirts and shorts.  At MACC every performer is "the" headliner somewhere else.  Beginning with the Grascals at 11:00 AM and progressing through the day day until Dudley Connell led a group of former Johnson Mountain Boys assisted by Michael Cleveland and his band closing at near 11:00, the music rarely stopped and the quality was of  the highest possible quality.  As usual, during this festival I'll be posting pictures with relatively few comments.  Later next week I'll be writing an overview and summation of the entire event.  Meanwhile, relax, sit back, and enjoy being at Musicians Against Childhood Cancer with me.  If you get the urge, remember that you can make a contribution to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital through The MACC by sending a check here:

By sending your donations here, you can be assured that the funds will flow directly to the research lab at St. Jude supported by MACC and dedicated to eliminating the specific cancer that too Mandy Adkins.

Before the Grascals could open the show to leave early on their flight to France, the new stage built by volunteers was dedicated by Kristin Scott Benson's cutting the ribbon and the program was dedicated to the memories of Mandy Adkins and Darrel Adkins' mother Opal Adkins, who died last week.

  1. Hi Ted! Great pictures...and from what I've heard, a great festival with awesome non-stop music. Kyle who plays with JD Crowe, his last name is Perkins and the fella that played bass with Michael Cleveland filling in for Marshall Wilborn is Berry Reid I think.

Have fun at the MACC and look forward to hearing more about this event.

  2. Thanks for sharing with us again, Ted. I just wanted to correct one thing for you: the fella playing fiddle with Don Rigsby is Matt Hooper. Thanks again and I'm looking forward to reading more!!

  3. I believe the banjo player with Don Rigsby is Dale Vanderpool

  4. How about another great shot of Fred and Lynn Ricart? She's one great lady and may not have been ready when you snapped that one.
