Seasoned Masters Form New Band

Three of bluegrass's finest musicians are announcing the formation of a new, yet to be named, band.  Marshall Wilborn, Tom Adams, and Jesse Brock will be heading into the studio this summer to record their first CD as a band. They are currently seeking a banjo player and invite interested pickers to send an MP3 to Jesse at mandomonster@msn.com.  The band is currently seeking bookings. All booking contacts are to be made to Tom Adams (Adams.Tom @comcast.net) or call at (717) 524-9817.  The new band expects to be a presence at IBMA this fall.

Marshall Wilborn

Marshall Wilborn has had a distinguished career with Jimmy Martin, The Johnson Mountain Boys, and The Lynn Morris Band, as well as the super band Longview. He's been associated with Tom Adams and Jesse Brock since they all played together in the Lynn Morris Band. Marshall has performed on an Album of the Year with The Johnson Mountain Boys.  He was twice recognized as Bass Player of the year. and his solo album, Root Five, was nominated for IBMA Instrumental Album of the Year.  Born in Texas, his gentlemanly ways and quality performance set a standard for bluegrass bass players.

Tom Adams
Tom Adams won the banjo player of the year award from IBMA three times before being forced by an injury to switch to guitar.  In addition to his personal recognition as a banjo picker, Tom has been a participant in seven other award winning recordings.  His move from award winning banjo player to lead singer, guitarist, and emcee has been one of the remarkable reincarnations found in bluegrass music in recent years. Tom is a featured columnist at Banjo Newsletter, where over 100 tabs of his have been published.  His recent work as lead singer and emcee has shown both his resilience and remarkable ability to adjust to adverse circumstances.

Jesse Brock

Jesse Brock, the youngest of the three players in this new venture, is not young in experience in any way.  He has emerged as one of the most distinctive mandolin players in a variety of styles.  His energy, animation, and precise picking on stage enliven any group he plays for.  In 2009 he was recognized as IBMA Mandolin Player of the Year. In addition to playing in his family's band beginning at the age of nine, Jesse has toured with Dale Ann Bradley, The Lynn Morris Band, and Chris Jones & the Night Drivers.  He also released a solo album Kickin' Grass with a host of A-list performers.

This new and exciting venture will begin as the three, with guest performers at banjo and fiddle, enter the studio to record a new CD and then head out on the Bluegrass Trail to prove their chops to a world where they truly have nothing to prove. Their excellence, dedication, and love of the music assure that they will soon be providing first rate music to eager and willing audiences again.

  1. That's a pretty good group of pickers right there. I'm sure they'll find have no trouble finding a couple of top notch pickers to join them. I wish them all the best and hope to see them out picking soon.

  2. I love the fact that these three will be staying together to form a new band - although still a little shocked at the breakup of Flamekeeper.

  3. This is one of the hottest rhythm sections in bluegrass today with the skill and ability to serve up some of the best solos you ever hear. Once this group adds a fourth piece, they wil be sure to come out of box running.
