Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver Bluegrass Festival: Denton, NC - Preview

FarmPark Stage

Doyle Lawson

The 32nd Annual Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver Bluegrass Festival will run  from May 9 - 11 at the beautiful Denton FarmPark in Denton, NC. Boasting one of the finest multi-use facilities available for a festival, the FarmPark offers a covered pavilion for performance, a vast campground with plenty of water and electric sites, and an extensive and fascinating collection of 19th and early 20th century farm equipment and rural North Carolina buildings. The entire park has a steam railroad running around it which will be running during the festival. There are a wide variety of food, craft, and instrument vendors offering plenty to keep people seeking a break from the music or taking time between sets plenty to do. This is one of the classic, long-running bluegrass festivals that should  be on everyone's list of don't miss events. This year's lineup is particularly strong.

This lineup has something for just about everyone. Whether you prefer traditional bluegrass music, gospel, contemporary, or progressive bluegrass, it's all here. There are old and familiar bands as well as groups new to the scene.  These are great musicians following their own lead, forging their own sound, and developing new music in the style of the founders, covering old songs you recognize, or forging ahead into the world of rock infused descended from bluegrass with a striving and insistent beat. If you don't like one band particularly, take a break because the one coming up will be more to your taste.
